The Shapeshifter: Spirit in form

Oil paint and spray paint on canvas; rope.
A durational performance painting installation. Continuously developing and changing, composed of the torn ribbons of previous painted canvasses, the figure is here to remind us that we each borrow the elements of physical existence from many that have gone before us. Each of us is potentially a thousand or more beings. Even in this life, our personality is not just one thing, but the many faces we display to the world as we navigate its challenges. We continuously revise and reformulate ourselves in a repeated act of self-destruction and reinvention. We fear the destruction of the old (many have expressed horror at the fate of the beautiful paintings that were “destroyed” in the making of this piece). However, in the end everything dies, and everything is spirit in form.
The Visionary Brit Fortune Teller

London’s most visited tourist site will now have four brand new attractions housed in four beautifully restored K6-design phone boxes showing Contemporary Visionary art.
Anji Main will be featured in THE FORTUNE TELLER. Seven visionary artists will tell your fortune with their very affordable art that you can buy directly from a vending machine. Anji’s contribution is to bring unique messages from Plant Spirits.

“Jake-Andrew Nason’s’s epic projection installation explores the relationship between sound and colour (in an) audio-synchronous visual narrative in which the viewer can explore or expand their own sensory perception.
In contrast, Anji Main’s shredded hanging sculptures are dismantled paintings, which appear almost as haunting figures that absorb the colour as it dances around.
Although vastly different, these two pieces work in perfect harmony, feeding off each other to create an incredible immersive experience which leaves you wanting more.”
